Mydrin-P對臨床屈光作用之研究

Mydrin-P in Refraction of the Eye

This report presented a study of the cycloplegic effect of Mydrin-P, based on the measurement of the residual accommodative power, and the change of the dioptric condition after its instillation. The material consisted of 81 cases, 162 eyes aged from 9 to 39 years, with a corrected vision over 1.0, without any apparent pathologic lesion in the eye except refractive error. After pre-cycloplegic refraction had been performed, the Mydrin-P was instilled 3 times, every 5 minutes on both eyes. During a period of 20 to 60 minutes after the instillation the refraction was repeated and the near point was measured with Ishihara's near point apparatus. The residual accommodative power was calculated from the distance of near point. The result revealed the average residual accommodative power was 1.66D. The residual accommodation decreased as the age increased, and ranged from 2.31D in the lowest age group of 9-14 years to 0.86D in the higher age group of 30-39 years. After the instillation of Mydrin-P drops the refractive power of the eyes shifted toward the milder myopic or stronger hyperopic side. 10 eyes, 71.42% among 14 hyperopic eyes showed a shift toward the stronger side with an average increase of +0.357 diopter ranging from +0.25D to +0.75D. Among 59 eyes of emmetropia, 40 eyes 67.78% manifested as hyperopia. The correction ranged from +2.00D to +0.25D. The mean of dioptric increase was +0.73D. Among 58 eyes of milder myopia of -0.25 to -2.00D., 11 eyes, 18.96% manifested as hyperopia, 6 eyes, 10.34% became emmetropic and 41 eyes remained myopic. The diopter of myopia decreased in 30 eyes, 57.24%. The average shift of diopters in this group of 58 eyes was 0.50D. Among 12 myopic eyes of -2.25D to -3.00D, 9 eyes 75.00% showed an decrease of corrected diopters. The average decrease was 0.46D. Among 19 myopic eyes of more than -3.00D, 8 eyes, 42.11% showed decrease of the corrected diopters. The average decrease of diopter was 0.14D. The cycloplegic effect of Mydrin-P was adequate among those studied, hyperopes, emmetropes, or myopes, aged from 9-39 years. Shift of refractive power toward stronger hyperopic or milder myopic side were observed in all groups.
