摘要

由經濟觀念與經濟行爲兩方面，考察嚴復中西經濟思想比較與結合情況是本文的基本思路。在經濟觀念方面，嚴復把以「自由」爲精神的西方經濟理論與中國傳統經濟思想進行了比較與會通，從而一方面推動著中國傳統經濟思想的解體；另方面則推動著兼具中西經濟智慧的新的經濟觀念的形成。在經濟行爲方面，嚴復將那些使西方富強的經濟行爲通過與中國經濟行爲的比較，也引入中國經濟思想中，從而推動著中國傳統經濟行爲的改鑄。嚴復比較注重中西經濟觀念、行爲的各自優缺點，站在19世紀下半葉中國社會背景下，在中國經濟思想史中第一個較成功地構造了「自由」的資本正義經濟模式，這無論是對中國傳統經濟思想之變革，抑或作爲20世紀中國經濟改革的火種都有其特殊的價值。

This paper is an examination of Yan Fu's comparison and combination of the Eastern and Western economic thought in respect of economic idea and economic behaviour. Yan Fu conceived ”liberty” as the spirit of Western economic thought. He attempted to deconstruct the Chinese traditional economic thought with this ”liberal” spirit, in order to form a new ”liberal” capitalist mode economy. This has made much contribution both to the twentieth century Chinese economy and to the history of Chinese economic thought.
