泰州學派人物的特徵

泰州學派從王艮創立學派宗旨以降，得到王襞、顏鈞、何心隱、羅汝芳、李贄、焦竑、周汝登等人的承傳發揚，一代勝似一代。他們的立身行世，以及講學論道之作風，有共屬一派之認同與隸屬感。要了解一個學派，認識該學派主要人物的社會出身、師承關係、人格類型及行事風格是有必要的。本文歸納泰州學派人物的共同特徵，計有：（一）低微的社會出身、（二）嚴密的師承關係、（三）狂怪的言行舉止、（四）尚義的游俠精神、（五）初發的啟蒙角色、及（六）悲壯的人生命運等六項互有關述的特點，這就是泰州學派的特色。這不是說泰州學派中每個人都具備這樣的特色，而是這些特色或多或少地體現在這八位代在人物的身上；他們八人說像一個家庭的成員，每個人都具有家族的類似性，這就構成泰州學派作爲一個學派的特點。
