“文學與音樂”之課程設計-以流行音樂為例,談文學與音樂之關係

Curriculum Design on "Literature and Music"-on the Relationship between Literature and Music via Popular Songs

摘要


本課程的開設對象為非音樂系之學生,為使學生理解無隔,故避開專業艱澀的古典音樂,特取流行音樂作為教學解說之例證,從三個面向來談「文學與音樂」的課程設計:(一)說明文學與音樂之結合要求「聲情相符」的原理。先舉近代流行音樂中的實例加以說明,然後再讓學生嘗試將喜愛的流行歌曲改編歌詞,透過實作讓學生真正明白國學常識中所謂「倚聲填詞」的道理。(二)探討台灣近代以來的流行音樂和社會文化的關係。蓋流行音樂抒發了廣大民眾的心聲,其歌詞內容反映了社會之變遷、兩性之關係、經濟之發展…等,可說是非常具體的社會文本。因此本課程希望通過此單元的探討,可使愛好流行音樂的學子在輕鬆地哼唱之餘,也能欣賞一些優美詞作的文學意境,並認真思索一些社會文化與生活情感等相關問題,進而了解「古有采詩之官,王者所以觀風俗、知得失,自考正也」的文學課題。(三)評論時下流行音樂之特色與得失。本單元從近代經典歌曲〈望春風〉談起,分析其歌詞內容及歌曲旋律之特色,再選取早期歌者陳芬蘭及當今歌手陶喆的兩種演唱版本作比較,審視二者演唱風格較誰能傳達出〈望春風〉的精神。最後再讓學生聆聽時下流行音樂,歸納其歌曲歌詞之特色,藉此培養學生從多元角度欣賞音樂的能力。

The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the effect of music and literature instruction in general education for non-music majors in college. Three aspects of the curriculum are discussed in terms of (a) music and language learning, (b) music and the popular culture in Taiwan, and (c) features and qualities of pop music. To begin with, based on the principle of ”music matching emotion”, some examples from recent popular music are presented and interpreted. Then students were asked to try changing the lyrics of a pop song they like. This exercise helped students understand the classical theory of writing lyrics in order to appreciate a given piece of music. As for music and the popular culture in Taiwan, popular music that expresses the feelings of male or female people and their economic development were adopted for the students. Through discussing the content of the selected lyric, the students see popular music as more than just a relaxing pastime: they learned to appreciate it for its literary qualities, and to consider its cultural position and feelings. Specifically, the students came to an understanding of the ancient Chinese tradition of officials recording folk songs: the earliest form of cultural and political survey. In term of the study of the students' responses to the features and qualities of pop music, the researcher teacher selected a popular modern classic song ”Spring Breeze.” And encouraged the students to compare the selected song performances of two singers; one was performed by a 60s singer, Chen Fen Lan, and the other was by a contemporary artist David Tao. During comparing the performances of the same song ”Spring Breeze.”, the students were asked to categorize features and qualities of the music and the lyrics of the song. Finally, the students developed the ability to appreciate music from different perspectives in music and literature instruction, which provided a good alternative instructional model in general education.
