Distinguished as the first well-planned and well-organized elder education institute in Taiwan, the Elder College of Kaohsiung City has demonstrated successful collaboration between the government and private organization. For nearly three decades since its establishment, the Elder College has witnessed Taiwan's progress towards an aging society. The study first discusses the historical origin of the Elder College, then based on documentary analysis, it probes into the admission brochures and board meeting minutes of the Elder College, and analyzes its organizational structure and operation model, faculty qualification and recruitment, enrollment and curricula, facilities and software, activities and contests. At the end, the study tries to interpret the current situation of Taiwan's elder education by means of the foregoing analyses, and offers comments and suggestions for its future development.
