如何自動檢測多餘尺寸與公差為電腦輔助元件設計上一大課題。本文敘述利用一“特徵設計系統”之資料庫,導出一“尺寸樹狀結構”,並藉由“深度搜尋技術”以達成多餘尺寸與公差自動檢測知目的。當使用者輸入一尺寸後,此檢測功能即自動開啟,如所輸入之尺寸經檢測後判定是多餘的,則該尺寸不被儲存,以確保元件之尺寸與公差的正確性。

A general scheme for automatic detection of redundant location dimensions and tolerances of a part is presented. A dimensional tree is derived from the database of the feature based design system whenever the user specifies location dimension and tolerance information of a part. A depth first search algorithm is applied to see if the specified dimension and tolerance is redundant. The scheme informs the user of the redundancy and prevents the redundant information from being stored in the system. Several examples of various complexities of parts have been tested with success.
