GROUP SUPPLIER SELECTION PROBLEM BASED ON ONE-SIDED PROCESS CAPABILITY INDEX WITH MULTIPLE CHARACTERISTICS

摘要


The issue of food safety in modern life has become a worldwide concern. Edible oil is essential for the human body and many types of food processing. The selection of the raw material suppliers in order to control the quality of a oil's final product is very critical. Therefore, a good decision procedure for evaluating the supplier capability is essential. The capability of each supplier can be evaluated from its raw material. The information extracted from samples can be used to calculate a process capability index for estimating the supplier's capabilities. In this paper, the process capability index C_(pu)^T for a product with multiple independent characteristics is employed to deal with a group supplier selection problem. A procedure to compare multiple suppliers is proposed. Comparisons of the proposed method between division and multiple comparisons with the best methods are also provided. Some numerical results for decision making are also presented. Finally, an illustration example based on peanut oil with specifications for levels of heavy metal content is shown.
