導航系統發展與地圖問題之探討

汽車導航系統是結合電子地圖和全球定位系統的一項新科技產品，能夠提供汽車行駛所需的道路資訊。由於汽車導航系統的發展涉及軟硬體技術及行政管理等多種因素，如：電器系統整合、電子通訊、地理資料庫、地圖展示等綜合性專門技術，因此需要各相關單位的整體配合始可順利推動。目前投入此一領域的業者，主要包括：家電業者、地圖出版社、GPS的生產者等。以台灣的經濟發展水準與消費能力而言，GPS導航業務應有極大的發展空間，亟待相關的產官學界攜手共同開創。汽車導航系統的發展涉及許多技術與管理層面的問題，包括：資料品質、資料供應、地圖展示技術層面的因素，這些因素都是地圖研究與管理的相關議題。本文提出這些問題的項目並加以討論，希望此一報告能提昇地圖學相關的產官學界對於導航系統發展的認識，並積極推動必要之研究與行政協調工作。

Automobile navigation system is a newly developed product that integrates digital maps and GPS technology. It provides mobile driven route information for navigation purpose. The development of scuh system requires domain knowledge from several relevant fields, including: appliance design, telecommunication, geographic data base, cartographic display and so on. Current commercial developments of this new system concentrate in companies of various backgrounds, such as: appliance company, map data provider, and manufacturers of GPS receivers. Considering the economical status and the level of consuming power, such product should have a bright future in Taiwan that deserves more research endeavors to enhance its performance. This paper reviews the development and status of such system and addresses the problems to be solved in further development. It is anticipated that this paper can enhance our understanding of this new technology hence more research efforts and cooperation on this task.
