摘要

本篇文章是寫給想為自己鄉土編繪地圖的工作者參考之用，提供最簡單可行的方式，期待每一個關心自己鄉土的人，都能把自己所熟悉的地方，除了透過文字，也能用地圖來紀錄自己生長空間的現況。
本文中所舉實例，是作者在纂寫「深坑鄉誌」地理篇時，同時編繪附圖的一個經驗，嚐試將編繪時的思考方向、使用圖料、編纂方法、地圖內容及應注意事項，不厭其煩的逐一說明，期待提供非專業製圖者，在為自己家鄉編繪地圖時，有一學習方向。因限於篇幅，僅以最常用的行政區劃圖和地形圖的繪製為例。

This article is intended to offer easy, yet feasible ways of mapmaking for the reference of those who love the place they live. Hopefully, through these instructions, anyone who concerns about his homeland can make a record of the present situation of what around him not only through words but by mapmaking.
Examples presented in this article come from experience which I got when compiling and mapping (Records on Shen-Keng-Hsiang). I try to make detailed accounts of everything related to map-making: ways of thinking, the source maps, the approaches, the contents of the maps, matters deserving special atention in doing this job, and so on. With non-spicialists in mind. I hope anyone who ever tries to draw maps for his hometown will find this article helpful as a quideline.
Restricted to the length of the article, examples given here are limited to the most com-monly used maps. such as maps about administrative areas and terrains.
