Map, a language of geography, is becoming an important media in modern society, Education reform is among the top list in government agenda. The attempt of increasing map literacy fits well with the concept of education reform. Besides, recent advancement of information technology widens the applications of maps. The development of cartographic education deserves attention from relevant subjects of K-12. This article examines the development of cartographic education from aspects including goals of education, curriculum development, entrance examination, and map production. Curriculum standards developed in the USA and England are introduced and compared. The ending paragraph highlights suggestion to future development of cartographic education. It is anticipated that more research endeavor will be encouraged by this paper.
