地圖投影之觀念探討

地理學的探討與研究甚多必須藉地圖方式表達，因此地圖之投影及繪製成為了解與研究地理最基本的開始之一，現今地圖投影因用途各異，因而採用不同的投影方式，不同的投影方式有其不同投影特性，不宜任意相互使用，如最為大眾熟知及最普遍的圓柱(cylindrical Projection)投影、圓錐投影(conic Projection)、平射投影(stereographical Projection)三種投影，其中圓柱投影與圓錐投影，一般容易與麥卡托投影(Mercator Projection)及蘭伯特投影(Lambert Projection)混淆，麥卡托投影及蘭伯特投影為維持投影後小範圍角度不變，維持正形而設計，但通常製作圓柱投影、圓錐投影時卻無法全部維持此特性，Robison etc所著之教科書Elements of Cartography將Lambert conformal conic Projection用詞提出後，易使一般人將正形與圓錐之觀念混淆。另現今各文獻中專有名詞翻譯不盡相同，對初學者可能造成不便，因此本文特將文獻中不當處加以指出及觀念導正。本研究先將文獻中部分觀念有混淆者與予提出，再指出引用文獻中數學、幾何圖形其不妥之處，如部分文獻將麥卡托投影視為圓柱投影，蘭伯特投影視為圓錐投影，但麥卡托、蘭伯特投影主要目的係維持投影的正形效應，且均直接由數學方式將投影結果計算而得，根本不須用到圓柱與圓錐的關係，而圓柱投影、圓錐投影，可由數學推導證實兩者投影方式並非皆符合正形投影特性。部分文獻在文章敘述時將麥卡托、蘭伯特投影與圓柱、圓錐投影之不同處正確分辨，但在做圖舉例時卻又混為一談，另在圓錐係數的推論方面部分文獻前後無法一致，部份圓錐係數公式誤植，部分觀念錯誤，將正形與圓柱、圓錐投影之特性混淆。而投影使用之專有名詞部分如Conform Projection一詞，正形、正角、保角投影均有人使用，而Stereographical Projection一詞，平射、球極、極射赤面投影也均肖作者使用，也多少造成初學者困擾，以上所舉本文將一一詳述。然而在地圖製作時使用各種投影的方式不致影響結果，僅藉此對地圖投影做觀念上的釐清。

The map users have different goal with different map, and the different map has different map projection. Although the results of the cylindrical projection and the Mercator projection have the same pattern, the cylindrical projection is not conforming mapping. Instead, the Mercator projection is conforming mapping. So the cylindrical projection and the Mercator projection can not be recognized as the same projection, and so does the conic projection and Lambert projection are also not the same projection, just only the results of the map have the likely pattern. Some of the text books confused the basic concept of the cylindrical and the Mercator projection, the conic projection and Lambert projection. In this study a correction has been done to eliminate the confusion between the cylindrical projection and the Mercator projection, the conic projection and Lambert projection. And some of the mistakes in the context books are also corrected in this paper.
