This study reports a bibliometric analysis of a set of 284 articles published between 1990 and 2015 in journals indexed by Web of Science (WoS) databases, with a focus on corpus-based studies related to second/foreign language acquisition and pedagogy. It has identified 35 first authors who have made key contributions to this field of study, and 28 pieces of core literature that have laid the foundation for this body of knowledge to develop. The core literature in the field of study has been found to focus on five major streams of corpus-based studies, namely, lexical acquisition, language acquisition, cognitive studies, vocabulary teaching and learning, and corpora used in the classroom. Co-occurrence analyses of key words from the titles and abstracts of the articles collected portray the development of the field between 1990 and 2015. The current status of the field is found to include four major research themes covering the writing of second language learners, the construction of corpora, vocabulary teaching and learning, and the production process of both first language and second language learners. The results may provide researchers with useful reference to carry out studies in this particular field.
