What is the ＂Gua-dou＂ (蝸斗) ?-A Study of the Folktale Wu-kan (吳堪) in Yuan-hua-ji (原化記)

＂Gua-dou＂ (蝸斗) is a magic animal, looks like a dog, and eats fire in the folktale Wu-kan (吳堪). This paper tries to indicate that the archetype of Gua-dou is an animal-shaped charcoal used to warm wine by the wealthy before the 10^(th) Century in china.
