由“性別角色態度量表”看性別教育通識課程之教學成效

Teaching Effect of a Gender Education Course Measured by the Gender Role Attitudes Scale

摘要


本研究之目的在探討「性別教育專題」通識課程對上課學生性別角色態度的影響。研究對象是南部某技職院校61位大三、大四修課學生,受測學生在上課前與上課後均填答一份「青少年性別角色態度量表」,結果顯示「性別教育專題」課程有效的改變學生的性別角色態度。修課後,學生在「男性性別角色態度」、「女性性別角色態度」、「兩性性別角色態度」、「社會權利與義務」、「職業興趣與工作」、「能力特質與表現」、「兩性互動與關係」等七個層面的得分皆比修課前為高,亦即學生修課後的性別角色態度比修課前更為現代化與平權化,可見得性別教育通識課程的教學成效卓著。此外,女性學生上課後比上課前有較多項分量表之得分比男性學生為高。只有在「兩性互動與關係」層面,不論上課前或上課後,男女兩性學生得分皆無差異,可見得男性學生在性別角色態度上比女性學生更為傳統與保守。文中將針對這些差異現象進行討論,同時做出結論與建議。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a gender education course, which was offered as a general education course, on it's change of students' gender role attitudes. The participants of this study were 61 junior and senior students coming from a vocational college in southern Taiwan. Students were asked to fill out the ”Gender Role Attitudes Scale” at the first and last week of the semester. The results showed that the gender education course effectively changed students' attitudes about gender role. After completing the course, students scored significantly higher (p<.01) than before in the seven dimensions of the scale, namely, ”male gender role attitudes”, ”female gender role attitudes”, ”androgyny gender role attitudes”, ”social rights and obligation”, ”career interests and work”, ”ability traits and performance”, and ”heterosexual relationship”. Students became more modern and equal in the gender role attitudes after the course. In addition, female students had higher scores in more subscales than male students compared to those they had had before the course. Both before and after the course, ”heterosexual relationship”, was the only dimension found no difference between male and female students. It is to say that male students were more conservative and traditional in gender role attitudes compared to their counterparts. The discussion of significant differences, conclusions and suggestions were also included in this article as well.
