The purpose of this study was: (1) to measure the serum electrolyte changes after 2 weeks of bicycle touring. (2) to monitor mechanism of serum electrolytes during bicycle touring. (3) to add to the current body of knowledge monitor to give bicycle touring, recommendation. Three females and thirteen males from the R.O.C. volunteered for this study. Beforethe start of the bicycle tour and after the 1300 km around the island trip a fasting sample of venous blood was obtained. Data was analyzed using a dependent T-test at the .05 significance level. The results were as follow: 1. There was a significant decrease in serum sodium and chloride. (p<.001) 2. A significant increase in serum potassium was noted. (p<.001) 3. No change was noted in either serum magnesium or serum zinc. (p<.05)
