The study was to investigate college pupil, 258, who register and major in physical education class at second semester 1992 in NKIT, after 12 weeks 800 meter running, warm up, before doing physical exercise period. These subjects have been tested1600m running on the 13th week, so as to understand his condition and fitness, by the way, caculating the correlation between BMI(Body Mass Index)and 1600m running performance. The subjects were 16 to 19 years old, height 1.70(M)±0.05, weight 61.68(KG)±8.80, BMI 21.23±2.66, (max 32.01 and min 15.43). The one mile (1600M) running performance was 8:15'36±1:09'28, (max 12:56'10 and min 5:03'47). The correlation between BMI and running performance was r=.15(p<.05). The conclusion is that the BMI index and 1600m running performance have the lower correlation.
