Effect of Approach Run on the Vertical Jump Performance

The aim of this study was to review literatures which described how kinematic, kinetic and EMG has been measured in running vertical jump. A search of the entire PubMed and EBSCO databases and an iterative reference check was performed. Several studies showed that short distance approach running improves the jump height. It is useful for the use of techniques and tactics during a competition. This article reviewed researches regarding the running vertical jump movement, and the benefits, characteristics and muscle activation of the approach running. The article will help coaches and athletes improve performances and decrease injury risk.
