Effect of Seprafilm(superscript ®) on Prevention of Tendon Adhesion-A Gross and Histologic Observation in Animal Study

摘要


本實驗以Seprafilm(上標 ®)可吸收性薄膜包繞在白兔前腳的伸肌腱上其預防粘連的效果。我們使用16隻紐西蘭白兔在其前腳伸肌腱經切斷再修補後,於術後第一、二、四、八週來評估比較有使用Seprafilm(上標 ®)包繞跟未使用者在實體及組織學上的變化。結果顯示Sepraflim(上標 ®)在植入後因轉化成膠狀體而形成一暫時性空腔。空腔在術後一週存在,但在第二週時消失。實驗組肌腱修補處的粘連,較對照組稀疏,顯微鏡下可見Sepraflim(上標 ®)物質在第二週被組織細胞的吞噬作用移除。在術後四週以後兩組在實體及組織學上的觀察並無明顯差別。實驗結果建議Sepraflim(上標 ®)可以使用在肌腱粘連鬆解手術上做為一種附加治療。

This study uses Seprafilm(superscript ®) Bioresorbable Membrane to wrap around the repaired extensor tendon in the forepaw of rabbit to examine its anti-adhesion effects. Sixteen New Zealand white rabbits were used to evaluate the gross and histology change of tendon repair with or without Seprafilm(superscript ®) treatment at postoperative week one, two, four and eight. The results demonstrate Seprafilm(superscript ®) converts into gel form after implanted into tissue and forms a temporary space. The space was observed at week one and disappeared by week two. Evidence from photomicrograph at postoperative week two shows Seprafilm(superscript ®) was removed by phagocytosis of histiocytes. The adhesion of tendon repair was relatively loose on the group treated with Sepraflim(superscript ®) at postoperative week one. The gross and histology pictures show no remarkable difference in both groups after week four. The result suggests Seprafilm(superscript ®) may be used in tenolysis surgery as an adjunctive treatment.
