Previously research methodologies used in recreational field have been dominated by social science and psychological research approaches. However, recently, psycho-physiological methodology has been adapted. The relationship between psycho-physiological responses and health has gradually been discovered and documented; the psycho-physiological methodology could complement the social science and psychological research methodologies. In this study, various recreational experiences of experimenters were examined using the recollection method to test the psycho-physiological responses and leisure benefits. We found that the static recreational activities not only can smooth anxiety and fear, but also can increase reflection more effectively than active recreational activities. The excitement caused by active recreational activities is more intense than that of static recreational activities. Further, the EMG reading and heart rate of those experimenters under active recreational activities are much higher than those under static recreational activities.
