The numbers of tourism and hospitality related programs and enrolled students have increased rapidly in recent years. However, the turnover rate of employees with a Tourism and Hospitality Master's degree is apparently higher than with other qualifications. This study conducted a three-year longitudinal panel study, which focuses on the perception of curriculum design. The survey consists of 236 masters in tourism and hospitality programs. The results display some unexpected and interesting findings, such as the top ten most needed courses. The capability of making PowerPoint and Excel files was ranked 22nd in the first year; interestingly it was ranked 6th and 7th in the following second and third years. In universities and technology institutes, the most needed courses in the second wave are foreign language ability (English), internship and personal relationship. Since these two educational systems fundamentally comprise different educational objectives to train their students and design the curriculum. This study reveals some interesting findings which need further exploration and discussion. Finally, managerial implications, curriculum design, and future research directions are also provided.
