Fa-Shien is the first Buddhist monk going to India by surmounting the desert and the huge mountain and returning to China by sea. He starts this severe journey in search of complete copies of the Vinaya-pitaka in A.D.399. The Record of Buddhistic Kingdoms, written in A.D. 414 by Fa-Shien, is considered a historical record of Buddhism status and elaborate description of Buddhist culture in many different states. This article discusses the religious objective from analyzing the written and non-written experience of the book. The author expresses the devotion to his religion in this book in stead of writing a record of adventure or exploration of new countries.
