The purpose of this article was to look into the calligraphy thought and style of Ni Yuan-Lu, the famous calligrapher of Ming Dynasty. Four parts were included. First, the foreword introduced the motivation of this study and its background. The second part introduced the calligraphy thought of Ni Yuan-Lu, and the discipline exhibited beyond his calligraphy. The third part interpreted the calligraphy style of Ni Yuan-Lu from different perspectives. Finally, the conclusion part discussed people's recognition and appreciation of Ni's calligraphy works, and their influence. By investigating the calligraphy works of Ni Yuan-Lu, this article enhanced our understanding of how an artist exhibited his or her disciplined characteristics through the life of art achievement.
