This paper first explains the literary works of ”Nuo culture”, and indicates that Nuo originated from the transformation of ”hunting and expelling” animals. Then, it uses the works of Liu Zongyuan as examples to analyze his efforts in personnel matters and failure to return to politics. Due to extreme disappointment and suffering from a serious illness, he included ghosts, gods, and strange things into his writing in hope to achieve the purpose of ”disaster relief” with writing of Nuo culture. However, because these articles were too critical, he failed to escape from the predicament and eventually died of illness with a deep regret.
