論梁實秋的文學傳統對其譯著《織工馬南傳》的影響

本研究旨在探討文學評論家及翻譯家梁實秋的文學傳統（poetics）對其翻譯活動的影響，並以梁實秋所譯英國作家喬治．艾略特（George Eliot, 1819-1880）的小說《織工馬南傳》（Silas Marner）為研究對象，說明譯者信奉的文學傳統不僅指導其選擇譯介的作家及作品，更影響其翻譯的策略。本研究分成四大部分：第一部分介紹梁實秋的文學傳統／文藝思想；第二部分闡述喬治．艾略特的的文學傳統／文藝思想，包括創作目的、特色及文學形象；第三部分比較梁實秋與喬治．艾略特的文學傳統／文藝思想，以分析兩者的異同，說明文學傳統對譯者翻譯選材的影響；第四部分以梁實秋的《織工馬南傳》中文譯本為例，說明文學傳統對譯者翻譯策略的影響。本研究發現，梁實秋之所以選譯喬治．艾略特的作品，主因在於其文學傳統與艾略特的創作思想頗有契合之處，梁實秋的譯介目的在於推行其信奉的文學傳統。而譯者的翻譯策略，相當程度上與其文學傳統有關。

This research is aimed at discussing the effects Liang Shi-Qiu's poetics have on his translation activities and studying the translation of George Eliot's novel, ＂Silas Marner＂. It explains that the translator's poetics not only determines his or her translating material but also affect his translation strategies. This research contains four parts: the first part introduces Liang's poetics, the second part explains George Eliot's poetics, including the purposes, features, and literary image of her creation, the third part compare Liang's and Eliot poetics and analyzes their differences to explain the effects the translator's poetics has on his choice of translating material. The fourth part elaborates the effects the translator's poetics has on his translation strategies with Liang's Chinese translation on Silas Marner as an example. This research discovers that the reason why Liang chose to translate George Eliot's works is the writer's poetics is comparable to his poetics. The purpose of Liang's translation activities is to promote his poetics. To some extent, translators' translation strategies are related to their poetics.
