This study analyzed market characteristics and purchase attributes of wood flooring in Taiwan. Thirty-four companies, including wood flooring suppliers and users, were chosen to ask the questions concerned. ANOVA and Duncan's new multiple range test were used to detect if differences existed among purchase attributes and if they existed among the selling situation for different tree species. Attributes that most influenced purchase decisions included the following: wood difficult to split or check; light surface color; recommendations by friends or relatives; and price. Attributes least affecting purchase decisions were: name of wood flooring; and figure of wood. Teak, garapi, padauk, rosewood, and keyaki are the tree species selling best in the current market.
