Feasibility of Manufacturing Paper-plastic Laminates Using Waste Office Paper

摘要


本研究以未使用及使用後兩類市售影印紙配合六種低密度聚乙烯膠膜(原生、再生及0.03、0.06、0.09mm),製成厚度3.0mm、十二種不同層積結構的紙張塑膠層積材,其壓縮率介於1.17至1.23間,比重介於0.93與1.05間,纖維含量分別為48、60及72%。依此規格製成之紙張塑膠層積材其常態彎曲強度在456.6至712.0kgf cm^(-2)間,彎曲彈性係數介於42,800與74,100kgf cm^(-2)間,引張強度在315.9至581.3kgf cm^(-2)間,硬度為64.2~72.6 Shore D,Izod衝擊彎曲吸收能量在139.2與371.0J m^(-1)間變化熱,至於變形溫度則介於121.6與130.0℃間。其中彎曲強度、彎曲彈性係數及引張強度在均為擠出成型木材塑膠複合材料之1.5倍,而衝擊彎曲則為5倍;顯示利用廢紙製作紙張塑膠層積材具有相當優異之強度性質,應可作為廢紙回收利用之另一選擇。

This paper evaluates the feasibility of fabricating paper-plastic laminates (PPLs) as an alternative way to recycle paper. Unused and waste office papers were interleaved with virgin and recycled low-density polyethylene films 0.03, 0.06, and 0.09 mm thick to make 12 types of PPLs of various configurations. Further consolidation by hot pressing, cooling, and setting was used to produce PPLs with a target thickness of 3 mm, a compaction ratio of 1.17~1.23, a specific gravity of 0.93~1.05, and fiber loadings of around 48, 60, and 72%. Mechanical tests showed that the flexural strengths and moduli were between 456.6 and 712.0 kgf cm^(-2) (MOR(subscript b)), and 42,800 and 74,100 kgf cm^(-2) (MOE(subscript b)) respectively, tensile strengths were between 315.9 and 581.3 kgf cm^(-2), hardness ranged from 64.2 to 72.6 Shore D, absorption energy of the notched Izod impact bending tests were between 139.2 and 371.0 j m^(-1), and heat deflection temperatures fluctuated between 121.6 and 130.0℃. Values of the flexural strength, flexural stiffness, and tensile strength of PPLs prepared in this study were 1.5-times and the notched Izod impact strength was 5-times those of the extruded woodflour-plastic composites, indicating that PPLs might be a viable alternative way to recycle paper.
