Burn is one of the major human traumas. This report described the nursing experience of caring a 31 years old man who suffered flame burn injury of 2-3 degree 51% TBSA. During his hospitalization period, through observation and interview, we identified the patient's health problems including fluid volume deficit, skin integrity impaired, acute pain, physical mobility impaired, and body image disturbance. Through comprehensive nursing care plans, including teaching, demonstration and returned demonstration, and sharing experience, the patient and his wife learned the skills for home-based self care. In addition he overcame the obstacle of self identity and successfully returned back to society, family, and work.
