Workplace violence is widespread worldwide, with emergency nurses having the highest incidence. There are various causes of workplace violence in emergency departments, all of which will lead to the loss of workplace nursing manpower, reduce the quality of care, increase patient safety issues, and increase hospital costs. Workplace violence can be seen as workplace adversity and be seen as negative stress, trauma or difficult situations. Resilience is a dynamic process when people experience obvious adversity and can positively adapt successfully. This article examines phenomenon of emergency workplace violence through literature review and discusses how to use resilience strategies in the workplace of nursing staff to solve the urgent need for nursing manpower shortage.
