Distinguished Lecture Commemorating the 60(superscript th) Anniversary of the Founding of Tamkang University: Asia Booming, US Depressed, and Europe Stagnating

Chairman Chuang, faculty and students, thank you for that kind introduction. Let me begin by noting that Tamkang University is a fine institution – one made so by keen competition from the many competitive schools here in Taiwan. Competition is indeed an important element of our daily lives, since it improves us in so many ways.My talk today summarizes to an extent what is happening in three important regions of the world and is entitled Asia Booming, US Depressed, and Europe Stagnating.
