牙周暨植體照護準則－系列報導之二：牙周暨植體維護治療的準則

臺灣牙周病醫學會為牙周暨植體維護治療(periodontal and implant maintenance)訂定了一套準則。對曾經接受牙周暨植體治療的患者，牙周暨植體維護治療是後續工作也是完整牙周暨植體治療的一部分。牙醫師應告知病程、變通的治療方式、潛在的併發症、預期的結果、及病人在治療過程中應負的責任。且應向病人說明沒有治療的可能後果。若不能配合牙周暨植體維護治療，可能造成疾病復發或惡化。病人在被告知後，應可選定與其有關的牙周暨植體治療。

The Taiwan Academy of Periodontology has developed the following parameters for periodontal and peri-implant maintenance. Maintenance therapy is an integral part of periodontal and implant therapy when patients have a history of inflammatory periodontal disease. Patients should be informed of the disease process, therapeutic alternatives should be outlined, potential complications should be discussed and the expected results need to be indicated; the patients also need to be informed about their responsibilities in terms of periodontal and implant treatment. Finally, the consequences to the patient of not undergoing treatment should be explained. Failure of the patient to comply with a periodontal and implant maintenance program may result in recurrence or progression of periodontal and peri-implant disease. If the patient has knowledge of the above, they should be able to make informed decisions regarding their periodontal and implant therapy.
