海釙醫療服務之學習效益:南印度醫療服務計畫之經驗分析

Does Overseas Service Make a Difference in Medical Education? Students' Experiences as Part of the South India Medical Service Project

摘要


本研究之目的為探討參與海外醫療服務計畫對醫學生之教育效益。研究方法根據紮根理論,針對參與學生之書寫報告進行質性分析,歸納學習主題後再依其出現頻率顯示其重要性。我們發現研究對象參與海外醫療服務所學習之主要項目為溝通技巧,文化適能,全球衛生照護,個人成長,與人際關係經營。本研究成果與歐美相關研究文獻發表之各項學習成果大致符合。

The objective of this study was to assess the influence of an overseas medical service project on Taiwanese medical education. This study employs grounded theory for the analysis of the collected data, which consisted of the participating students' personal reports. After identifying certain medical-education-related themes in students' personal reports, the importance of these recurring themes was estimated according to the frequency of their appearance in the students' personal reports. It was concluded that five major themes could be identified: communication skills, cultural competency, global health-related knowledge, personal growth and interpersonal relationship development. Compared to the results published previously based on the experiences of Western .students, the authors conclude that overseas medical service has a similar positive influence on Taiwanese medical education as was found with Western medical education.
