Applying GM(0, N)to Assess the Relationship among R&D Capability, Organization Environment and R&D Performance

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the key factors of enterprises to enhance their R&D departments. The paper analyzed the weighting of R & D capabilities, organizational environment and R&D performances. Then the key factors can be found to reach the purpose of enhancing enterprises’ R & D results. The math model used in this paper was based on the GM(0,N) of the grey system theory. The questionnaire survey was targeted to Taiwan's machinery industry on R & D department staff and the results were verified by GM(0,N) model. The results showed that the enterprises should give priority to the organizational environment, which has positive impact on the R&D department development. Moreover, taking R&D capabilities into consideration, it is beneficial to the R&D results. Finally, there can be further consideration of the R&D performances. The results verified the thesis in this paper. That is, in business R & D organization, the leadership should pay attention to the leadership and culture, and present enthusiasm for the creative heart of innovation and challenges. In addition, it can convert in-house technical resources effectively to meet the novelty and efficiency of new products and to reach the R & D performances. Besides, the study also explained the results of analyzing R&D capabilities of GM(0,N). This can provide effective suggestions to the leaders in promoting R&D capabilities. As for organizational environment, the insufficient parts can be reinforced and the original advantages can be maintained to set future performance targets and enhance R & D departments.
