從符號學探討《佳麗村三姐妹》角色設計與文化幽默表現

摘要

法國知名動畫導演西拉維休曼所執導的《佳麗村三姐妹》，於2004年在全球上映後，即獲得廣大觀眾熱烈的迴響，不僅橫掃了歐美各國的電影票房，媒體評論報導的一致好評，更榮獲多項國際大獎的殊榮，在以美式與日式動畫為主流的動畫市場中嶄露頭角。而片中對美式文化的反諷與幽默手法，以及角色設定造形的獨特性與鮮明的性格表現，也著實令人印象深刻，如此表現成功的動畫佳片，必有它値得探討的價值所在。因此本研究將從索緒爾與羅蘭巴特之符號理論，分析《佳》片角色設計符號的造形表現與其內涵意義，以及片中對美式文化的反諷與誇張化的幽默性表現，針對其圖像符號之轉化方式與背後所蘊含的象徵意義，作一個初步的探究與解析，從中了解動畫中符號的文化內涵與表現手法。藉由相關文獻資料的蒐集與彙整，其研究結果發現，本片的表現成功之處在於：1.跳脫傳統英雄式角色設定思維，以純樸逗趣的角色設計來反傳統。2.各角色造型多元特色鮮明，誇張的造型特徵易使人記憶。3.使用大眾所熟知之文化特色元素，並針對符號重新做詮釋與表現。4.融合各地文化的特色，並以誇張的造型或文字遊戲達到暗喻性的幽默與諷刺。

”The Triplets of Belleville” is directed by Sylvain Chomet, who is the famous animation director in France; and after this movie was shown globally in 2004, enthusiastic echoes have been obtained from numerous audiences. This movie not only won the movie box offices of every country in Europe and America and received consistent favorable reviews from the commentaries and reports of mass media, it also had the honor to get multiple special honors of international awards; thus, it stood out conspicuously in the animation market that considered American and Japanese animations as the main stream. The irony and humorous techniques towards American culture, and the uniqueness of role setting modeling and expression of clear-cut personality in the movie really gave deep impression to the audiences. Such a successful animation must have its value that deserves to be discussed. Therefore, this study would analyze the modeling expression and its meaning of role design symbol in ”The Triplets of Belleville” from the symbol theory that was proposed by Ferdinand de Saussure and Roland Barthes. And then, this study would carry out a preliminary investigation and explanation towards the irony and exaggerated humorous techniques for American culture by focusing on the transformation ways and the contained symbolized meanings of the image symbols, so as to understand the cultural intension and expression method of symbols from the animation. On the other hand, more successful expressions of ”The Triplets of Belleville” would be discovered through the collection and categorization of relevant document data. The final result hopes to serve as the reference for animation producers in Taiwan when they are carrying out the role design and the expressions of animation humor.
