The role of work culture in educational institutions in determining behavioural characteristics of teachers namely, job satisfaction, intent to remain and willingness to recommend the organisation is established though this descriptive study. The existence of transparency and solidarity in the organisations proves to be the significant work culture factors in determining the teacher's behavioural responses. A unique instrument College Work Culture Profile (CWCP) to measure the work culture existing in the Indian higher educational institutions is developed and its formative reliability and validity is established. The instrument will be useful to measure the work culture fit between the educational institutions and its teacher's values, using Person-Organisation fit model.
