The usage of ZnO is very broad, such as in coating, porcelain glaze, light catalyst, catalyst, photoconductor, semiconductor, spinning and weaving, rubber and the like. The varistor has nonohmic I-V characterisitics, which can be used in the electronic system to absorb the surge and maintain the constant voltage. The varistor contains 97 mol/% ZnO. In this study, n-butylamine was employed as a chemical precipitator to produce the high-purity, spherical and uniform particle-size ZnO powders. Sintering studies of these oxide powders with various additives were carried out. Optimum sintering conditions such as temperature, time etc. were used to obtain the varistors with good properties.
