A bibliometric analysis to discovering research trends and forecast of E-learning

摘要

The study proposes a bibliometric approach to current research trends and a historical review of E-learning from 1988 to 2013. The bibliometric analytical technique is used to examine the literature productivity, based on the scope of 2,224 literatures of E-learning both in SSCI journals. This study implemented and classified those literatures of E-learning using eight categories for different distribution status in order to explore how E-learning trends and applications have developed in this timespan. Also, the study will perform Bradford-Zipf plot. The analysis provides a roadmap to guide future research and abstract the trend information so that researchers can study more efficient since kernel knowledge has been concentrated in major categories. This study also implies that the phenomenon "success breeds success" is more common in higher quality research publications.
