Although the upper secondary education is non-compulsory in Taiwan, the national school enrollment rates has been over 90% since 1996. Nowadays, the enrolment rates are approximately 95%, and the overall rise in this achievement shows that it is time to plan the Grade 1-12 curriculum. Japan has been rich in experiences of the design and implementation of the Grade 1-12 curriculum. This study attempts to employ literary analysis as well as historical analysis, and to obtain some findings for improving the Grade 1-12 curriculum in Taiwan.
