The dimorphic fungus Penicillium marneffei can cause an opportunistic infection in immunocompromised patients and is considered an AIDS-defining disease. It is a life-threatening infection with a poor prognosis in untreated patients. We describe a HIV infected patient with a dissiminated P. marneffei infection. Amphotericin B and itraconazole treatment were successful.
