摘要

本文主旨是討論網路科技在醫療運用上的發展和限制，切入點是醫療資訊網站。作者首先針對醫療資訊網站（medical information websites ）的類型、功能和醫療意義提出分類和觀察。然後透過文獻整理和評析，作者探討了和醫療資訊網站有關的三個議題。第一，網路醫療資訊的品質和內容。主要的關心是一般民眾在使用醫療資訊網站時，所該注意的資訊正確性與完整性的問題。第二，線上醫病關係（on-line or electronic physician-patient relationship ）。主要的關心是在網路應用愈來愈普及之後，醫療提供者（醫護人員）與需求者（病患）之間互動模式所可能出現的一些變化和限制。第三，網路可近性（web accessibility ）。主要的關心是影響網路可近性的因素有那些？又會有那些社會後果？本文以議題討論為主，不是實證研究，寫作目的是評析醫療資訊網站的發展機會和可能限制，希望藉此帶動更多的討論和研究。

This paper aims to review the possibilities and limitations of internet medicine, focusing on medical information websites. The discussion starts with the development, function and significance of medical information websites. Based on literature review, the paper concentrates on three critical issues. First, the content and quality of medical information websites. The issue centers on the accuracy and completeness of medical information available on the internet. Secondly, the emergence of on-line or electronic physician-patient relationship. The concern is about the development of on-line physician-patient relationships and its consequences on the future practice of medicine. Thirdly, web accessibility. The concern is about the numerous factors related to web accessibility and their social consequences. In short, this paper attempts to review the possibilities and limitation of medical information websites, hoping to bring forward more empirical research on this topic.
