The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the perceptions of nursing care of pregnant women with maternal serum screening to positive reaction for Down's syndrome during amniocentesis. Sixteen pregnant women consented to participation in this study. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis. The findings included two categories: perception of nursing actions (helpful and unhelpful nursing actions, the expectation of the nurse), and absence of nursing actions. This study identifies the need for nurses to provide consultation in working with Taiwanese women. With this goal in mind, the quality of nursing can only be enhanced in the future.
