台灣地區專科學校物理治療課程之現況與省思

Current Status and Critical Reflection of Physical Therapy Education Program for Junior Colleges in Taiwan

摘要


背景與目的:目前台灣有三所專科學校設置物理治療科或復健科,每年約培育500位畢業學生。考選部將自100年起停辦物理治療生證照考試,物理治療科系學生未來畢業將只能報考物理治療師證照。五專物理治療教育為高職改制,課程設計以培育物理治療人才,並輔導學生通過物理治療專業證照為主要目標。本研究旨在調查96年度國內三所專科物理治療入學學生之五無課程規劃,除與2000作全國物理治療教育研討會建議的核心課程作比較,並提出未來規劃與建議。方法:由三個專科學校提供96學年度入學學生的課程學分表,以描述性方式比較各學校的物理治療教育課程,並以平均±標準差呈現。結果:三個學校的課程及學分數相似,必修課程和學分數並未較2000年全國物理治療教育研討會所建議的低,選修學分比例偏低且無目標性之規劃。結論:五專的物理治療科組可以參考四技或大學的課程,改善教學過程之品質,增加學生主動學習,以培養學生專業能力。並提升通過物理治療師的考照率。也鼓勵再進修增加兩年專業教育或建議依據學生特質與興趣開設長期照護及健康促進等選修課程模組,並鼓勵考取相關證照,協助學生未來就業與就學更多面向的發展。

Background and purpose: There are three junior colleges offering physical therapy (PT) programs in Taiwan Approximately 500 students graduated from these three junior colleges annually. The physical therapist assistant (PTA) licensing examination will be discontinued since 2011. The junior-college level PT programs aim to train students becoming professional physical therapists and guide them to pass the therapist licensure exam. This study surveyed the curriculum design of the three junior-college PT programs in school year of 2007 and make comparisons with the consensus of the core physical therapy curriculum from national PT education meeting held in 2000. Methods: We surveyed the five-year curriculum design for the newly registered PT students of the three junior colleges in the school year of 2007 and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: The educational curriculums were similar among the three junior college programs. The percentage of required core courses was high and relatively fewer elective professional courses were provided than the university-level PT programs. Conclusion: The curriculum can be improved to fit the professional education criteria by improving the teaching-learning process and active learning facilitation. We also recommend to have two more years of further professional training with or without modules of elderly health care or health promotion to increase their employ rates in the professional and related arenas after graduation.
