厭離現世的人們

Those Loathing and Leaving the Life: In Regard to Ujihachinomiya's Death in Genji Monogatari

摘要


對平安時代的貴族來說,要登上「極樂世界」階梯非常地艱險,例如,源信的『往生要集』記載了在臨終時只因心有些許的紊亂而無法往生極樂的內容。即使如此,對於「虛假的世間」、亦即只不過是個異鄉的現世感到厭倦,而強烈希望能往生「極樂」的貴族仍然不斷出現,甚至造成往生傳的問世。平安貴族的代表文藝『源氏物語』中的人物雖然對「佛道」傾心,但依然對情愛有所執著,以致無法悟道,只能在苦痛與迷惘中徬徨。在『源氏物語』的後半,故事的舞台從京都移往宇治,宇治是留存著古代傳承的交通樞紐,也因為喜撰法師的和歌而成為隱居勝地。另外,『源氏物語』完稿時淨土宗的文化也已滲透宇治了。隱居宇治山中的落魄的天皇之子有著佛教的厭離之念與對情愛的執念,筆者希望透過考察這樣的矛盾衝突之描寫,以闡明蘊含在宇治的物語裡,那些將充滿苦痛的現世視為「虛假的世間」(異鄉),且決心放下「羈絆」的人們有著多麼深沉的躊躇與絕望

The process to Gokurakujodo is steep for Heian aristocrats, and Genshin's Ojoyosyu reads that only a slight disturbance of the heart in the article of death hinders Gokurakuojo. Still, there are always the noble loathing and leaving this transient world, Karinoyo, which is no more than a strange land, and earnestly wishing for Gokurakuojo. Even biographies of the people who made it have been written. Genji Monogatari describes those who are, while leaning to Doshin, affected to their relatives and roving over in pain and darkness. In the latter half of the story the main stage moves from the capital to Uji. It is a hub of major transportation with ancient tradition, whereas it is regarded as a place of secluded life, where Jodokyo culture has been penetrating at the time of the establishment of the story. By considering, from the perspective of literal expression, the conflict between Buddhism loathing to this world and affection to the family of a prince, ruined and living in the mountain village of Uji, the hesitation and the depth of despair of those who esteem this painful world as a strange land, Karinoyo, and wish to renounce Hodashi, what they adhere, will be focused.
