The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between throwing velocity and lower extremity muscle strength for baseball pitcher. Twenty-three young male baseball pitchers participated in this study (average age 17.09±0.73yrd). Subjects were tested for throwing velocity with wind-up and set position, and knee flexor/extensor isokinetics muscle strength at 60, 180 and 300degree/sec. The results shows the throwing velocity of wind-up and set position were 128.09±4.94 and 127.39±5.35km/h respectively, and had significantly different (p<0.05). The throwing velocity shows significantly correlation with support leg extensor isokinetics strength at 60, 180 and 300degree/sec, but did not have significantly relationship with flexor muscle strength. The throwing velocity shows significantly correlation with striding leg extensor strength at 180 and 300degree/sec, and flexor strength at 180 degree/sec (p<0.05). We conclude and suggest that because of the lower extremity muscle strength are highly correlation with throwing velocity pitcher, so the pitcher should train there lower extremity muscle.
