The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the renewed regulations by International Softball Federation on hits performance. The subjects were the softball matches in Sydney and Athens Olympic Games, the most competitive level. The important conclusions were (1) the increased rates were 17.96% in hits, 19.02% in hits average, 16.13% in RBI, and 26.53% in SH. (2) the frequencies in homerun, steal and four-ball, however, were decreased. It proved that the renewed regulations- the lengthened distance of homerun wall, made homerun more difficult than before with the lessened 48.15%. The extended distance from the pitcher to the home base decreased 27.92% in stroke-out rate; the pitcher's predominating will be diminished comparatively.
