This paper reflects on speeches and discussions that were made at the 2011 Macau International Nursing Symposium. The experiences and research overseas and nearby regions imply that the future of Macau nursing education would need to re-consider four issues: 1) the competence based teaching and learning outcomes; 2) the new apprenticeship model of teaching; 3) diverse settings for the teaching of clinical practices; and 4) accreditation based evaluation of educational quality.
