Objective: To explore the psychological changes and care needs of women during the unexpected termination of their pregnancy. Methods: Qualitative phenomenological methodology was conducted with ten women of unintended pregnancy loss via semi-structured in-depth interviews. By employing the Colaizzi analysis technique to transcribe, collate and analyze the collected data. Results: The reason and the prevention of the pregnancy loss are most concerned. Self condemned and break-down feelings emerged among a portion of the interviewed women. They also feared of pregnancy. Improvement on the medical services and the related procedures is generally requested. As a result, conclusions were identified from the three perspectives: psychological responses, effects of pregnancy loss and needs of care support. Conclusions: Health care providers should strengthen the education of the pregnancy information to the public. Deeper understanding and cognition of patient's rights would help avoiding medical malpractice. Timely abortion transition services and continuous improvement on community health services are recommended. And thus, the Obstetric and Gynecological Services in Macau can be further advanced.
