Since almost all the cultures have been built upon religion, religious people everywhere are beginning to say that our cultures can only be preserved through friendly dialogue. Apparently, the inter-religious conference sponsored by Pope John Paul II at Assissi in 1986 has become a great model of religious dialogue. According to this example, it is possible to establish global meditation as a foundation for inter-religious dialogue. Between Eastern and Western mysticisms, it is, thus, feasible for unity to take place among differing diversities. Taking the dialogue between Buddhist and Christian mysticisms for instance, their cohesion consists in their return to the root of existence via the practice of self-abnegation in ku 空, mu 無, and silence. The difference is that Christianity is founded on Jesus of Nazareth. However, one may say that the foundation of their encounter is established in what Lonergan would call ”religious conversion”. Such an inner conversion can be seen among all those who practice their religion. Indeed, only when religious people are faithful to their Scriptures could they attain silent mysticism. In this way, they would move towards harmony and friendship among one another.
