In recent years, scholars have begun to pay attention to religious wisdom in so far as it may contribute to protecting the natural environment. This study adopts the method of documentary analysis and explores whether there is any relation between Catholic ecological spirituality and environmental ethics (or ecological ethics). First of all, it attempts to investigate if Catholicism provides any principles of environmental ethics for this world as a sign of its concern for nature. Secondly, it examines how many approaches to eco-spirituality based on environmental ethics are to be found in the Catholic Church. Finally, it tries to identify whether Catholic eco-spirituality can provide any inspiration to Taiwan's contemporary environmental endeavors. It is hoped that this study might contribute to solving the problems of promoting environmental protection in Taiwan.
