An Exploration of Scenario Discussion in a Web-Based Nursing Course

案例分析於網路化護理課程之探討

摘要


面臨不同族群的需求及快速多變之高科技健康照顧體系,護理教育的複雜性及挑戰性日益增加,為達成社會之期望與要求,護理教育者必須有效的培育學生成為主動獨立之學習者以及問題解決者。本研究之目的將網路化案例分析學習應用於護理課程之設計,並評量學生之學習成果。研究設計分為二部份,第一部份是於2001年發展網路化案例分析學習系統;第二部份是評量案例分析學習成果。研究工具二份為護理評估及學習成效評量,以簡單隨機抽樣方式,研究對象為某技術學院護理科二年制專科一年級43位學生,於2002年修習護理Ⅰ之課程,徵求同意後參與本研究。研究發現大部份學生均認為學習成效很好,整體來說學生對學習成效的問卷調查及護理評估的問卷調查給予正向評價。由於學生先前缺乏案例分析之學習經驗,當他們修習這門課的時候,感到挫折焦慮;因此老師需要花更多時間來解釋案例分析的好處;此外,網路化教學比傳統教學,教師須承受更大的負擔。護理教育者必須持續創新教學以增強學生的學習能力,本研究證實案例分析於網路化護理課程之學習,質性資料顯示學生正負向反應;未來仍需加強學習軟體、網路便利性、同步及非同步的討論和互動介面的發展。

Complexity in nursing education has increased as it is challenged to meet the needs of diverse populations in rap idly evolving and highly technical health care set tings. To accomplish or meet these societal wants, needs, and demands, nursing educators must pre pare students success fully to become active, independent learners and problem solvers. The purpose of this study was to design a nursing course on the basis of scenario discussion, Web-based instruction (WBI), and the assessment of learning out comes. The design of the study involved two stages. The first, beginning in 2001, developed the scenario discussion with the WBI sys tem. The second evaluated learning out comes within the con text of a scenario discussion. Two instruments were examined in this study: a nursing assessment score and learning effective ness survey. The tar get population in this study consisted of students enrolled in a two-year nursing program and registered for the course, Nursing Ⅰ, during the fall semester of 2002. Using simple random sampling, 43 students were recruited and agreed to participate in the study. Most of the students chose ”good” for learning effective ness. Over all, the students gave higher learning effective ness survey scores and nursing assessment scores. Due to their lack of previous expo sure to scenario discussion, the students here felt frustration and anxiety while taking this course. Faculty should devote more time explaining the advantages of scenario discussion. In addition, in comparison with traditional teaching, Web-based instruction (WBI) imposes a heavier bur den on the instructors and institutions involved. Nurse educators must continue to use innovative strategies to enhance student learning. Students registered both positive and negative feed back in open-ended questions on Web-based instruction. How ever in the future, special attention should be given to the learning soft ware, Internet access speed, synchronous and asynchronous meetings, and the inter action inter face.
