姑獲鳥文化意涵之探討

Exploring the cultural implications of the Ubume

摘要

姑獲鳥，據傳是不祥之鳥，其具有「衣取小兒」、「血、羽致病」、「稟性畏犬」、「人日為崇」、「畏光聲吵」等特性。本文先討論姑獲鳥的相關特性，繼而從「非 常為厲」的角度切入，認為其因無巫覡的介入，且對人無利益，因此遭到「醜化」，被視作不祥。而荊楚地區向來被視作「信巫鬼，重淫祀」之地，姑獲鳥的傳說，可能只是人對小兒莫名生病或死亡的解釋。換言之，人們為禳除姑獲鳥所作的種種儀式活動，一方面反映了當時養育人口的不易，另一方面，或和對人日的生殖崇拜有關。因此，帶有不祥意義的姑獲鳥，藉由驅逐之而使小兒獲平安，其實也只是反映了人類祈求平安順利的願望罷了！

Therefore, The Ubume with ominous meaning, by leaving the children eligible for the expulsion of peace, in fact, only reflects the aspirations of humanity to pray for peace goes nothing!
